ABOUT Tunisia

The Republic of Tunisia is the northernmost country in Africa. With the archaeological sites of Carthage dating back to the 9th century to the great mosque of Kairouan — it is a part of the Maghreb region of North Africa, and is bordered by Algeria to the west and southwest, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east.

Tunisia has a well-diversified economy, although it remains dominated by only a few large sectors. The economy depends heavily on mineral exports, especially petroleum and phosphates, a growing manufacturing sector that has received much investment, and agricultural products. Tourism is also a significant source of revenue and foreign exchange, as are remittances from migrant workers living abroad.

Business Opportunities in Tunisia

The country has excellent business opportunities, especially in sectors that would benefit from American technology, such as hydrocarbons, power generation, renewable energy, aeronautics, transportation, healthcare, safety and security, and information and communications technologies. Other sectors include manufacturing industries such as textiles and apparel, agribusiness, aerospace, and mechanical and electrical equipment.
